Through the act of self portraiture I expose a vulnerable, raw and true self. Allowing many of my fears, weaknesses, aspirations, challenges, defeats and dreams to become the importance of subject. This is at times a painful process but always cathartic and liberating. This act has taught me to be on both sides of the camera at once and allows me total freedom in my creative process. For me the act making self portraits takes courage, strength, creativity, determination, vulnerability and patience. Sharing them is sometimes the biggest act of courage as I am allowing others to see a truth that we as human beings tend to hide or keep inside.
